About the Artist: Charles F. Hasty (1924–2006)
Born in Arkoe, Missouri, Charles F. Hasty led an extraordinary life shaped by resilience, service, and creativity. At just 14, he left home and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 15, serving valiantly during World War II. His naval career took him across treacherous waters aboard multiple destroyers—three of which were sunk in combat. He saw action in the Aleutian Campaign and the Battle of the Komandorski Islands, where he was awarded a Purple Heart for his bravery.
After the war, Charlie channeled his experiences and deep appreciation for life into his art. He became a prolific painter and skilled wood carver, creating pieces that reflect both the grit of his journey and the quiet beauty he found in everyday moments. His work lives on as a testament to a life richly lived—with courage, heart, and unshakable spirit.
About the Artist: LeNoir Lonon
From a young age, LeNoir Lonon found inspiration in the art studio of his grandfather, Charles F. Hasty. Surrounded by paint, wood shavings, and stories from a life well lived, LeNoir’s creative journey began at the side of a man whose passion for art left a lasting legacy.
Raised across Arkansas, Texas, and Ohio, LeNoir honed his artistic vision through formal training, earning his degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1999 and continuing his studies at Studio Arts International in Florence, Italy. His career spans over 25 years as a professional product photographer and print maker, and his artistic path has taken him around the world—including seven years living in China.
As the grandson of Charles F. Hasty, LeNoir carries forward a family tradition of creativity and craftsmanship, blending personal history with a global perspective in his work.
